They mention that “The Rockaways’ rising popularity among the younger creative set has been profound.” Yet nowhere in the article do they reference “Rockaway Beach” by the Ramones? Heresy. I get the feeling that the young, artsy types referenced in the NYT article have been chewing out the rhythm on their bubble gum while hitchin’ a ride to Rockaway Beach for quite some time.
