Syracuse Invitational Tourney Round 2 Part 1

April 10, 2008

Retail/Dining Bracket

16) Smith’s Restaurant Supply v. 8) Doug’s Fish Fry
O.K., did I mention those chicken kebabs? I can cook with Smith’s stuff, but Doug’s does it for me. Doug’s wins another at the buzzer.

12) Delta Sonic car wash v. 13) Mother’s Cupboard
I just wait ’til it rains or snows to wash my car. Bring some real maple syrup with you and dig into those plate-sized pancakes at Mother’s victory celebration.

Arts/Entertainment Bracket

1) N.Y. State Fair v. 9) Erie Canal Museum
Can area history and an interesting presentation compete with cheap booze, free music and more fried stuff than you possibly cram into your piehole? Nope.

12) Benny Mardones v. 4) Museum of Science and Technology
People like to say they go to the MOST, but excluding the IMAX theatre, how many actually do? Benny charted twice, he’s now won two games in the S.I.T.

Recreation/Sports Bracket

1) S. U. Basketball v. 8) Erie Canal Bike Path
Despite the loss of Donte Green to the NBA draft (he could still change his mind!), the hoops team has enough to hang on against the bikers.

12) Clinton Ice Skating Rink v. 4) Syracuse Crunch
Where would you rather hang out? Besides, the S.I.T., true to its namesake, prefers collegiate sports. Another upset for the Joe Nicoletti Memorial Rink.

Government/Industry Bracket

1) Syracuse University v. 9) Syracuse Center For Excellence
O.K., it was fun while it lasted but the Syracuse Center for Excellence is still largely theoretical. No match for the folks from Piety Hill, kicking butts since 1870.

5) Matt Driscoll v. 4) Hutchings Psychiatric
Driscoll fires the S.I.T. head referee and brings in his own team of handpicked refs that allow him to squeak out an illgotten victory. Drinks are free at Rosie’s tonight!
